Yard Sale Finds & Some Creativity......

Good Saturday morning to you all!

It rained here ALL NIGHT...waking me up around 3am.  It wasn't the rain so much that kept me awake but a dog in the distance voicing his opinion about the getting left outside in it!  I will not complain though (about the rain).  We really needed it.

The little town closest to us had their annual "15 mile yard sale" yesterday.  I should say they started it yesterday.  They quickly got rained out and were left scrambling for their bright blue tarps to throw over their goodies.  I managed to get to a couple of them before it really started to come down.  Here's a pic of what I found........
The basket I'm told was handmade by this woman's daughter.  It's a quite solid basket with a very sturdy bottom (that description could be used for many of us).  I picked it up for only 50 cents!  The next item is a small purse made of some sort of jute...maybe???  Anyway, a small purse forces me to only carry what I think I might need because my back can't handle the weight of a larger purse hanging from my shoulder anymore. It was $2.    I collect cobalt blue glass so this little jar was a must have.  It's very narrow so it will fit nicely on a window sill.  I think it was also $2.  The cute little seven-inch ruler was only 50 cents.  We also collect blue Ball canning jars.  We now have so many that we are more selective in buying them.  According to our research this one was made between 1910 and 1923.  The offset "PERFECT MASON" only happened for two years during that period.  We picked it up for $3 and the bugs inside were FREE!!  Now folks that's like walking up to a pay toilet and finding the door unlocked.  (I humbly apologize to my early followers who have found that line in this blog before).

I worked on ABC Tapestry a little bit yesterday but nothing really picture worthy.  I promise to take a pic of it soon to post.  I'm having a bit of a problem finding a comfortable position to stitch in.  After painting the living room I rearranged the furniture and it doesn't quite lend itself to easy stitching.  I have ABC on a big stand and it needs to fit over the chair I'm sitting in.  It won't work if I sit on the end of the couch and it's a bit too close to the arms of my great grandmother's rocking chair and I don't want to scratch them.  I'm left with one chair and I'm doing my best to make it work.

Masterchief should soon be back home.  Our church has a men's breakfast in Somerset once a month and he needed to pick up a couple things at Lowe's afterward.  I asked him to bring me home a roll of double sided tape as well.  I'm trying to make an adorable little pin cushion, tutorial found HERE.  I don't consider myself to be nearly as crafty and creative as most others but I'm giving this a whirl.  I'm up to the point of needing the tape so I'm waiting for Masterchief to deliver.  I make no promises that mine will look as beautiful as Olga's!

The SUN is shining and I need to be out in it!
Grab yourself some sun today

I've been thinking about hitting some antique store and yard sales to find something 'special' for the swaps I'm doing. Come over and help me shop!!!

Love your finds! You did great! I have cobalt glass as well - love the one you found. I don't remember ever seeing one like that before.

Can't wait to see your pincushion!

I love yard sales - great finds on your part. I miss going to them - over here in Germany they don't do these. They do have flea markets, but I have not made it to any one of them. Someday though...
